LLS Children's Initiative
Education and Support for Patients, Parents and Caregivers
A cancer diagnosis turns the lives of young patients and their loved ones upside down.
Here at LLS, we believe no one should have to face cancer alone. We are committed to providing information, support and resources throughout your entire cancer experience.
One-on-One Support
Our Information Specialists are master’s level oncology professionals who provide free, personalized assistance to patients, families and healthcare providers. Our Information Specialists offer guidance through cancer treatment, financial and social challenges, and give accurate, up-to-date disease, treatment and support information.
Clinical Trial Nurse Navigators
Our Clinical Trial Nurse Navigators are registered nurses with expertise in blood cancers who conduct comprehensive clinical trial searches and personally assist patients, parents and caregivers throughout the entire clinical trial process.
Our registered dietitian has expertise in oncology nutrition and provides patients, parents and caregivers with free nutrition consultations by phone or email.

Other Help for Patients, Parents and Caregivers
We provide free information, materials and programs for parents and educators that can help ease children back to school after an absence due to a cancer diagnosis.
Patti Robinson Kaufmann First Connection Program:
This peer-to-peer program gives you the opportunity to talk about your experiences one-on-one with someone who has “been through it,” including other patients, parents, caregivers or loved ones.
Join our online social network where you can share your experiences with other patients, parents and caregivers, stay current on the latest diagnosis and treatment news, and get personalized support from trained LLS staff.
Local support groups are facilitated by healthcare professionals and provide a comfortable, caring environment where you can discuss anxieties and concerns with others who share the same experiences.
Weekly online chats are moderated by an oncology social worker and give patients, parents and caregivers the opportunity to share information and provide support to one another in a structured, online setting. These chats are a convenient option if you are not able to attend a local support group.
To help you care for a child or loved one, we provide a wide range of resources, information and support, including videos and a comprehensive caregiver workbook.
We provide annual support of programs at Camp Sunshine, which is located in Maine and dedicated to providing respite and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Financial Assistance
We are dedicated to helping patients and families cope with the financial burden that cancer brings. In addition to our advocacy efforts to fight the rising cost of cancer care, we provide an array of financial assistance programs to help with cancer-related expenses.
