Michelle Le Beau, the Arthur and Marian Edelstein Professor, and Director of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center, Elected to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society National Board of Directors
White Plains, N.Y. (May 14, 2014) - Michelle Le Beau, Ph.D., director of Cancer Cytogenetics Laboratory, Arthur and Marian Edelstein Professor of hematology/oncology at the University of Chicago, and director of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been elected to the national board of directors of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), effective July 1, 2014. Her term will run through June 30, 2017.
In her role as director of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center, Dr. Le Beau oversees cancer research, education and outreach programs. She has expertise in developing research teams, and advancing multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.
Dr. Le Beau received her bachelor's degree in animal science/genetics from Purdue University, her master's degree in pathology and her doctorate in pathology and genetics from the University of Illinois. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Le Beau currently serves as the President of the Association of American Cancer Institutes, and is a member of the board of directors of the American Association for Cancer Research, and the executive committee of the American Society of Hematology, and serves on the National Cancer Policy Forum of the Institute of Medicine (National Academy of Sciences).
